Man Ray and Milles-gården

Oh - how I love Man Ray - Russian Jew - like my american first husband (actually his family was from Kiev), artist - NOT letting himself be categorized as anything. Wonderfully lighthearted and funny - and yet very passionate.  Poor guy - falling so much in love with his american muse Lee.
Go google his pictures.

And Millesgården: I have not been there since I was a kid and I never realized how much he and his wife Olga collected and did. I especially like the writers corner - in the monk's cell:
I want one just like this!

Do I dare?

The photography course that I and my friend Susanna took - food photography - this last weekend made me realize quite a few things. 1 - I am not that bad. 2 - hey, it may be fun to be a photographer (paid or otherwise).
mitt första matfoto - någonsin

It was a lot of summaries that I experienced: props (like ballet or theatre, my first profession), the aesthetics of art in composition, the excitement of arrangement (propping, setting, lighting), the aspect of making somebody else's work shine (typical dancer-style).
Also realize that BLACK AND WHITE - really really is powerful.  I loved the work of Elliot Erwitt. He resembles the artwork my parents brought into my life with many, many visits to the Modern Art Museum of Stockholm.  I loved it.
SO here is my collection of black-and-white.

This is more and more a photographic diary I think ... ?

I am amazed -- it learned so much this past weekend. Matilda is a fantastic teacher and I just simply love the fact that I actually was able to compose the picture below.
I have never "planned" or "staged" a picture before - nor have I wanted to tell a story in this way.  Using a tripod was also kind of new to me.  Here it was used as a tool to compose - not only to keep steady.  VERY VERY inspiring indeed!  Thank you Fotografiska Museet!

I am on a ROLL!

At Last -- Started and Finished a Drawing

The first one in AAAAGES:
'

This little ditty was crafted in bed in about 10-15 minutes after having it in my bag (the to-do-bag) for  at least 2 months. Saw the picture on-line first, either Chinese or Japanese.  Could not resist trying to re-create it. The original was ink - this is pencil.
Nice to be back!

Dang That was difficult...

(what was difficult - you might ask? well, it was night, pitch dark, I have a tripod, a good wide angle lens, a good camera and set the whole shebang to 13 sec, f/11 and 13 mm. did not hear the autofocus due to traffic, and could not focus manually due to darkness)
